Ok. I admit it. My favorite part of draft season is trying to predict the hidden gems, the under the radar guys who may skyrocket if given a chance in the spotlight, who may surprise at the combine. Or alternatively, who will be arrested for something stupid and disappear entirely forever.

I agree with Mike Klis

I think McDaniels had a part to play in how effective the Pats D was against our O-Line.

I am already full of hatred towards him and the New England franchise, now it is borderline fury.

They are a dishonorable lot and I wish them nothing but failure.

Love the hate…. Me too. I got my wish for McJedi in St Louis. I wished massive failure upon Josh before the 2011 season and McJedi went out and OC’d the league’s worst offense. Helped get the coach fired, Bradford injured/regressed and St Louis to a #2 overall pick.

The Rams had been down for a while. Looked like a bounce back team after 2010, then McJedi showed up and they double dipped into recession territory.

Jeff Fisher should send Josh a gift basket for that #2 overall pick. He’ll be able to trade down with Cleveland and pick up their extra 1st round pick.

right there with you.

i sometimes have to remind myself to hate the raiders more than the patriots.

I hope Mike McCoy lands the job in Miami. I think that will be a win for Denver.

Out of curiousity

Who do you think would be a suitable replacement?

I can think of a few...

Hue Jackson
Tom Clements (QB coach of GB right now)
Rick Dennison (Would have to offer Asst HC in addition)

I want Hue
and then I want Hue to shut up

and coach

No to Hue

He’s an organizational cancer, which didn’t bother me when he was in Oakland, but I don’t want that here. Remember, even before he became HC, he was undermining Tom Cable.

I do not get this.

There is no similar NFL offense, so everything had to be added in season and tweaked on the fly. There is no standard for appropriate playcalling in regards to the offense in place, and there was not a ton of time to analyze tenancies, efficacy against various defenses etc – as other more traditional offense have.

So people are not happy with play calling, yet they compare it to traditional offenses. This is flawed.

Taking the offensive coordinator job in Denver is essentially career suicide, as your skill set would only be relevant to one team and essentially tied to one player. Additionally, there is no real upward career moves outside of the team. So, if McCoy leaves you are looking and a 3rd tier NFL assistant, or a college lifer.

Finally, how much off season time will be wasted learning the team, what is already in place etc and most likely a complete overhaul in formations and terminology.

I don't McCoy committed career suicide

It got him a head coaching gig most likely

EFX will not care about next year's OC ability to tailor around our unique QB.

Elway says a Super Bowl must be won from the pocket and Fox is uber conservative. The mid-season tweakining was a necessity this year but a cutting edge offense is not their mindset. McCoy will be sorely missed unless Tebow can all of a sudden become that Super Bowl franchise QB Elway wants now, They will go a more tradional route, IMO.

Tebow isn’t a traditional QB so I hope they don’t try that route. It will fail.

Tebow is a big reason we had the run game we had. People seem to forget how bad our run game was with the same Oline pre-Tebow.

Tebow is a great fit for Foxball. Our run game will be good and that is what Fox wants regardless of the OC.

The passing game has to get better, but really Tebow isn’t that far off from being a 60% passer (gasp!). He only throws it 20-25 times a game. To increase is completion % to 60% he only needs 3-4 completions. He ignores at least 2 check downs per game (and usually ends up running around and then throwing the ball away). Better timing with his receivers will get him the other 2.

Our team is being built to be a low scoring, run first and defense oriented team. We will win games by not making mistakes and letting other teams make mistakes and lose games.

It isn’t an exciting formula and not one I’m thrilled with but that is Foxball. Solid team, usually around 8-8. Can make a playoff run when the stars align. If TT turns out to be a superstar (I think he will), then we can be a 10 win team with Fox. I just don’t see us being a high scoring team.

don't coach him to not throw it away

that’s better than a sack or a turnover, I rewatched Texans-Ravens before I went to bed Wednesday and T.J. Yates was hellbent on throwing to Andre Johnson no matter what, you can make the argument that this is why Houston lost

Throwing to Lance Ball over the middle for an 8 yd gain (when our WR aren’t open downfield) isn’t throwing the ball away. It isn’t a 40 yd bomb but it is a completion.

You are making an unfounded accusation

I do not have a problem with him throwing it to Lance Ball if he is open, or anyone else, but there is value in throwing the ball away if there is no play available. Throw the ball away, live to play another down, I always say

Good post buddy. I agree with a lot of what you say.

What Fox needs in the worst way is play markers at RB, WR and TE. Guys that take a 18 yard post and turn it into an 80 yard TD.

We have no play makers at RB and only one at WR and DT has a lot of flaws in his game like Tebow does in his.

Denver would be crazy not to add a game break RB early at the 2012 draft. Would also be crazy not to add a deep threat WR. Then cross their fingers that Julius Thomas develops at TE.

Add those pieces will take your 8-8 team to a consistent 11-5 just based on getting those few big plays we need in otherwise low scoring games.

We enter year 2 of the rebuilt and a big play RB and big play WR are the two key things we need to add for next year

We need a speedy RB type that we can move around and that can get to the outside of the defense.

Tebow’s running game will compress the defenses in the middle of the field. We have no speed that can get to the outside. Maybe that Johnson kid.

Moreno is too slow and may not make the team. McGahee is tough but on a lot of his runs that he broke through the line this year, if he was faster, he takes it to the house.

DT will be fine. He just needs to be more aggressive going up to get the ball. Once he does, TT will trust him more and throw him more jump balls. His size/speed combo is great and I think he will be fine being in a run first offense.

Decker I’m not so sure about. He has a bit of Diva in him and I think he’ll get disgruntled if he doesn’t get more catches. His drops really annoyed me though.

His hot girlfriend’s whining annoyed me. He does block his ass off so there is still hope for young Eric.

Lance Ball and Johnson don’t belong within 100 miles of the Denver Broncos 2012 roster. We need real talents at RB. Not dime a dozen practice squad guys getting 15 carries in a playoff game and losing yards on 10 of those carries. Sheesh does Ball stink

His hot girlfriend’s whining annoyed me.

no freaking doubt. i’m with mcjay on this though— i’d wager her whining came directly from his whining—private or public. i like decker fine and all, but he could stand to concentrate on his own job and do less freelance commentary on the OC’s or the QB’s jobs.

I must have missed it

what did Jessie say? (if anyone remembers, the game she sang…..Eric didn’t have one reception).

I for one don’t think she’s all that. Not the brightest bulb in the box (maybe just immature?) and kind of fake looking.

She was b*tching on twitter about Decker not being targeted

and I think he had multiple drops in that game

Concentrate on the damn ball

When it hits you in between the numbers, you should catch it 100 times out of 100. Bay Bay had some ugly drops this year too.

That is what I was saying, McJay.

Agree on all your points…….who, what, and why….but you knew how and took the time to articulate them.

However,

Tebow is a great fit for Foxball

I don’t know that Elway or Fox understand that.

plus, "efficacy" was misused

The Tebow hater in disguise making straw man arguments.

Bro. At what point over three years in Denver did Mike McCoy lead a high scoring and successful offense? Not once? crickets? With Orton or Tebow, with Lloyd or Marshall? anyone?

And yet somehow Mike McCoy turned that three years of lackluster results into a HC job in the NFL. Tebow’s OC is career suicide you say? Say it out loud again and you’ll realize how dumb you sound.

Try again Captain. Just try harder.

I have a theory that TT himself helped with the Florida run plays that we added to the system. I don’t think the loss of McCoy is that great. That said, I think McCoy is ok and did a good job given the circumstances (basically changing our offense on the fly in the middle of the season thanks to Elway and Fox mishandling the QB situation in TC).

Whoever is the OC needs to have an offense that is more creative. The plays need to build off each other more. Also, we need to see more personnel groupings and different formations that run the same type of plays.

The DT TD vs. Pittsburg took advantage of how predictable we are but that was the exception. We need more looks that run the same play so that defenses can’t just key on a certain play based on the formation.

2nd time.. 100% yes.

Our football discussions would get boring since we’d just keep agreeing on everything.

Yes to everything you said.

One thing Tebow must do in this offseason and have ready for week one of next season is improved/faster tempo to the line of scrimmage.

They delay of games were annoying, but that wasn’t really the problem. The lack of having time to audible certainly was though.

This stuff falls almost entirely on Tim. He needs to speed up the tempo of our offense. That really will tire out a defense and create holes/mismatches. Will give Tim time at the line to see the D and change plays. Will allow for more personnel groupings as he gets things done faster pre snap.

Everyone gets their panties in a wad about his throwing motion. Rubbish… What annoyed me most about Tim in 2011 was how slow he was getting his team to the line of scrimmage. It was amateurish. A fault of both Tim and McCoy. This though is easily correctable in the off-season and TC so long as we don’t waste the TC on some half wit like Orton.

whoever

EFX brings in as a backup QB should be considered that exclusively: a backup, get a Gary Kubiak/Charlie Batch type

You know

I think Fox has a lot to do with the slow tempo. He doesn’t want a bang-bang offense. He wants an offense that grinds out the D with the run game, uses a lot of clock and gives the defense time to rest.

I don’t think we will ever see a fast tempo offense under Fox. It’s just not his style.

just tell all your Dolphin fan neighbors

he might not be as great as everyone hopes…
