Broncos' Offensive Coordinator McCoy to Interview with Jaguars

Say what you want about the Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, but at least one team in the NFL thinks that he might be head coach material.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have requested and been given permission to interview McCoy, but not until after this weekends Wild Card game. McCoy cannot be hired until after the Broncos season has ended however.

McCoy is one of seven candidates, the others include Jacksonville interim head coach Mel Tucker, Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Rob Chuzinski, Dallas Cowboys special-teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis, Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, and New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien.

In 2010 McCoy was leap-frogged by Denver running back coach Eric Studesville to be named Broncos interim coach following the firing of Josh McDaniels. Both McCoy and Studesville remained with the team following the hiring of current head coach John Fox.

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
People here hate him a lot but the guy is a good coordinator.

He will be fine wherever he lands I’m sure of that.

People here

Just want someone else to blame for Tebows shortcomings. It’s not McCoy’s fault Tebow can’t complete 50% of his passes.

No. But McCoy doesn't love tebow the way Jay Gruden loves Dalton

Chid loves Newton, or McD loves Cassel.

Do you see how Tebow runs to McCoy after those close overtime wins

There isn’t some conspiracy against Tebow people. Maybe by the refs and the media, but not in the club.

I hope thats the case.
Of course that's the case!
Why wouldn't that be the case???

IF Tebow and the offense does well, McCoy looks good.

If McCoy looks good then John Fox looks good.

If Fox looks good, Elway looks good.

If Elway looks good then Bowlen looks good.

If Bowlen looks good then that’s all that matters!

LOL sounds like a chain of command sort of thing!

Tebow runs to McCoy because he's the one who believes in him.

People here want an offensive coordinator that is creative in his play calls.

The Broncos are probably one of the only teams in the NFL where the fans can correctly predict the plays before they happen. McCoy calls a ton of runs and then on 3rd and longs, he calls long developing pass plays. No RB screens, no WR screens, no short crossing routes, and failure to incorporate TE at all in the passing game.

Tebow has been playing HORRIBLE but I question Mike McCoy’s ability to create a system for Tebow to succeed in the future.

so he's a dud this week?
That also

I miss studs and duds. Could we get one for this week? I mean, I know the passing game sucked, but the D was really good. Especially Chris Harris. Dude is gonna take Goodman’s spot

quote of the day

listening to krieger on the radio today and he was saying the locker room was (understandably) pretty quiet after the game yesterday. he said harris was off kind of by himself and finally just broke the silence with,“don’t we get hats or something?”

nice.

Very nice

Id give him my hat if I could. Hell, it be one of those mariachi sombreros he was that good yesterday

yeah, i thought that was classic. apparently they finally did get their afc west champ hats and t-shirts today, so you’re good. you can hold onto the sombrero.

Rats. Next time Harris, next time...
Chris Harris deserves a hat!

That kid is the real deal! LOVE WATCHING HIM!

Nick is licking his wounds from getting beaten into submissions by me in the pick'em challenge

Sucka! USA USA USA

I hated him and his playcalling

even when Orton was starting. People want to give him credit for this “new offense” which he himself admits was built mostly by the players, and then he calls god awful plays where he has Tebow roll left on play-action with all the receivers on the right. It’s not the basic form of the play (pass/run) I have a problem with, it’s the actual x’s and o’s part I usually have the main problem with. And they don’t trust Tebow’s pre-snap enough to change the play, b/c obviously if he could he would audible to PA pass if he had the power to. Love the philosophy hate the plays

especially handing the ball off to MJD every play
This is flat out wrong Obese.

at what point in three years did McCoy operate a good offense in Denver? You’re lying to yourself if you think McCoy has done a good job in Denver. At any point no less.

I disagree completely on McCoy

The guy gets way to much blame on here. He isn’t perfect by any means, but there’s not a lack of creativity in our offense. Look, the theme of this year has been “Conservative” to an extreme..I think we can all agree on this. He is working within a boundary (constructed by the conservative framework of our team) and is doing what he can within it. The offense has been the core of this theme. McCoy ran a completely different offense with Orton (not conservative by any means) at the helm and won games with a change in philosophy once Tebow was in.

Furthermore I urge all fans not to forget about our past so quickly. Not long ago was a 4 yard run unheard of. I for one am very proud our Franchise can run the ball like we were known to before the recent plague. Don’t forget the 3 an outs that put our Defense on the field so quickly, or the Orton throws into the dirt on a key third down then that camera view as he walks towards the sideline nonchalantly as if the outcome was out of his hands. This team has improved and coaches deserve credit for this. (IMO just changing to basic schemes, 4-3 defense and a more zone running o-line, helped this team significantly). In addition keep in mind how little time this team was built. The fact that we are in the playoffs is astounding when you consider this feat.

The central issue is trust. Im not certain Fox has complete faith in Tebow. The fact that many people are even questioning this means that its a strong likelihood. McCoy is working under a framework set by Fox just in the same way McCoy did under the Belicheck’s pampered prince. The runs are annoying to fans but it works. We literally can run the ball on most NFL teams with them knowing (because of Tebow). You know what kills most of our drives? Penalties and lately, turnovers. Many of us would be singing a different tune if these were eliminated I promise you. Don’t mistaken this for Fox not liking Tebow or any conspiracy BS you read about. I think Fox believes he has a quarterback that needs a lot of work but has unique skills. To me this team cant wait for a full off-season (me too).

Look, with over reliance on anything you will create weaknesses in something else...

yeah, love the run game, but it has led to handicapping the pass game, and most importantly the development of the QB, WR’s and the pass protecting of the O Line.
We are going to have throw against PITT, and unless we have an amazing week of practice, we are dead in the water.
McCoy has done NOTHING to help develop these players, and thru his actions, as actually regressed them and provided them with a lack of confidence and over thinking. Football is a feeling sport….its a game of flow…..our QB and WR’s in particular are so tense and worried about outcome that they cant perform and just “play the game”.

No. McCoy isn’t perfect. But that is how McJedi supporters had to frame thier support of Josh in year 2. using loaded phrases like “he isn’t perfect”, which has implications.

What I’m saying is he isn’t good. He hasn’t brought out “goodness” in our offense in three years. He hasn’t even made us average in terms of scoring. Just three years of below average offenses with a cast that has changed enough to say he didn’t get it done with several different types of personel and several high draft picks added to his benefit (Moreno, Dick Quinn, Decker, Walton, DT, Tebow, Beadles).

How many strikes does McCoy get? Seven? Nine? 13? before we ask ourselves, is this guy even good? Even mediocre?

If you watch his interviews, he is HC material.
glad its not DA
That's what I'm worried about.
It is what it is.

I should get an interview.

and a date with Oliva Wilde.
So if McCoy gets the Jacksonville HC job,

would he trade for Tebow?

:D

He'd sign Quinn fo shore
I'm sure Schotty gets it.
With Rahim Moore as D Coordinator.
*Morris

or was that a punny?

thanks... morris. lol. just a slip. not freudian.
IMHO, it's part of the Jag's new owner's grand plan

Khan want the Jags to be the “Hottest Selling Ticket”. If he grabs McCoy, chances are he’ll get Tebow and his QB coach. Tebow will go graciously, welcome the warmer weather and be welcomed as a returning hero. But what does Elway demand in return and who becomes his new QB?

I think O'Brien will end up at Penn State.
Holy crap, now what?
hire McD?
You're joking right?
does any one else want the job?
For the love of all things good and Broncos no

Do you love our running game? Do you want an even WORSE scoring offense? McD isnt even a good OC

I love our running game! Zone blocking!
If you love our running game then you shouldn't want any part of McD

Lets steal Dennison from the Texans

Still waiting for Kubes to get fired. :(

Damn you TJ Yates!

Kubes and Elway back together, NICE!
Or maybe he's waiting for Denver to let him come home

he didnt try out for any other teams last year, that guy is a Bronco at heart

For as many YARDS as the running game gets...

They are EMPTY stats…

We have the #1 rushing offense and rank near middle-bottom in SCORING.

The #1 pass offenses rank TOP 5 in SCORING.

I like running, but Fox needs to allow McCoy to institute a more balanced offense.

running stats are not as empty as passing stats

runs control the clock and keep the defense rested and shorten the game

not if they result in a bunch of 3 and outs

… and we lead the league in those.

A good offense that moves the chains controls the clock… if you can’t do that, run/pass balance is totally marginal to the larger effect of having to punt.

What runs do actually do is lower the probability of a turnover (because fumble rates tend to be lower per play than INT rates)… so I guess there is that.

I would be totally ok with this.
Todd Haley
our WR core would improve.
McDaniels would be a good choice, I think.

His problem in Denver was mostly that he was acting as GM plus was the HC, and doing the GM stuff ruined him for both positions. But he was a good OC before coming to Denver. I’d actually like to see him come back to Denver as the OC. And as I mentioned on another post last night, I’d like to see him bring his brother Ben along as the quarterbacks coach.

(Just an interesting tidbit about Ben McDaniels. He was just hired as the OC and quarterbacks coach at Columbia University in New York.)

his other problem was disregarding the zone blocking scheme
He hasnt been a good OC since that time with the Pats

and they havent skipped a beat since he left. Our O was around 20th in scoring in 09 and 10. Its still around there in 11. But this year the “offensive genius” that is McD is responsible for the worst scoring offense in the NFL. And the Rams run game still sucks, ranked at 23rd with Stephen Jackson pounding the rock

Please no....

His Rams have the worst scoring offense in the entire NFL. We don’t need that here. McDaniels appears to be yet another in a long line of NFL coaches who built their reputations on the success of Tom Brady. No, no, and again no.

Oh.

How about Ben for OC then? (Just kidding!).

We get norv turner for OC .
Norv is Probably Staying in San Diego

Furthermore, if Norv comes here, Tebow will be traded. Tebow will never be accurate enough to be a quarterback in an Air Coryell offense.

lol

Rivers wasn’t accurate enough this year either

Last I read,

it looks like Norv Turner is staying put.

Cuz were tradeing Tebow to them?
Let him Goooooo!!!
We're not trading Tebow to do Jags -_-
A hunch says he will be here next year.

If MC Coy is going to impress his next boss

He will have to come up with a lights out , monster , game plan to defeat a top 5 steelers defense .

I hope to God the Jags hire him.
The issue is Fox is ultra conservative. He wants to play it safe and keep. He wants to keep games close and shorten games

Its a recipe for mediocrity. You won’t be dominant and you won’t be horrible in this case. You may sneak into the playoffs. Then you need to get lucky. Personally I’d rather have the ability to be dominant. If it flames out then so be it. I don’t want every game to be a coin flip.

Yeah, I wonder how much of this playcalling we've seen is Fox and how much is McCoy.
Lots is on Fox too, no doubt.....
I think More is on McCoy.

Yes, Fox wants a run first team and I for one love it. But he’s not calling the plays. I can’t believe that he would say: On 3rd and long in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd call QB draw, and wait for late in the 4th to pass.

Thing about Fox

He will NEVER “open up the offense” as fans want him to, he never has. That being said plenty of great offensive players have played amazing under Fox. Steve Smith, DeAngelo Williams, etc.

Steve Smith plays even more amazing under the new staff, so there goes that theory.

I think its more of a business decision for Mr. Smith

The Panthers have an OC that really is talented and creative (unlike McCoy) and the Jags will interview him too. They also have a lot more offensive talent than Denver. Far far far better #1 WR, far better RB depth, far far better TEs, better O-line and better QB (there, I said it).

Their D sure does suck though.

Well, this will mkae a lot of folks happy.

I doubt he’s really in contention though. He can’t be ahead of the likes of Schotty. Unless….. let’s look at Jax’s logic. They could land RGIII, who could implement a similar playbook to waht McCOy is TRYING to run with Tebow. It might actually be a good move for all involved. I really believe that McDaniels is one of the ONLY people that could develop Tim Tebow. He drafted him, and he loves the kid. I still think McD got the short end of the stick here. Yes, he screwed up, but Joe Eillis admittedly set him up for failure. Ellis baiscally said, “yeah, we screwed up giving him so much responsibility. We goofed. Now HE’s gone.” That’s skewed login, IMO. With Fox around, the running game wouldn’t go anywhere, but McDaniels is at least creative, and gets it. And then he wouldn’t go to KC and give them Lloyd, Bowe, and 2 QB’s that know his system (shudder).

The myth about McD being a good OC is like the one we used to say about our WRs. Neither one of the 2 are good. The #1 overall pick Bradford has regressed terribly under McD’s offense, so he may not be a QB guru either. I dont think he would have been flexible enough to do the option for Tebow like how Fox and McCoy did

bradford is actively lobbying for St. Louis to keep McD as coordinator.

He wants the 3 years it’s rumored to take to learn his offense. And according to NFLN tis morning (take that or leave it) several others in the lockerroom feel the same way.

Thats because McDs

offense is a pass first and pass often. Tons of pass attempts = tons of yardage. Any QB’s dream :) Of course he has to have the Brains AND the Talent to thrive in that offense :)

I don't like McD but

I can’t put the Rams all on him. Remember when he came here? Orton had a full offseason to digest the system and still looked like an amateur in the preseason. Bradford changed systems in his 2nd year and had no offseason much like Tebow.

Besides that Jackson, his WR, himself have been hurt on and off all season. It was just a lousy year overall in St. Louis.

Ironic though that they end up with the #2 pick like we did last year;)

It’s not ironic, its McJedi.

The 2010 Broncos had his hand prints all over that disaster. With the worst offense in the NFL, the 2011 Rams had Josh’s hand prints all over that disaster.

Still see the excuse machine will run overtime for McJedi on occasion. That machine seems to follow him around.

At what point will Josh McJedi coach well enough that folks don’t need to continue to make excuses for the disasters he leaves in his wake?

Actually Cal, I think DT will be very good.....the others I am not so sure about....
Let me rephrase my friend

Our WRs arent good at the moment. But I dont think McD has been, or ever will be, a good HC or even OC. Maybe not even a QB coach

Hey Harv, kind of funny you would mention how "he can't be ahead of the likes of Schotty"....

when we’re hearing the same things from Jets fans (about Schottenheimer) that are being said in some of the MHR posts about McCoy> Ironic at the very least

McDaniels wouldn't be able to develop Tebow

McDaniels is too inflexible with his scheme, to me he would be throwing the same lame as WR screens every play. He went to St. Louis and made Sam Bradford and that offense into a wreck and basically cause Spags his job.

We shouldn’t be blaming him for all the problems with the offense. We lack talent on offense. And it’s not as if Tebow’s lighting it up out there. Using yesterday’s game as an example, yes the 3 and outs were frustrating, but what was McCoy supposed to do with Tebow throwing the ball so poorly. We need more talent at the WR position and Tebow needs to improve a lot for any OC to succeed. McCoy should take some blame, but in my opinion, most of the blame should lie with the players. From dropped passes, to poor throws, they haven’t exactly helped McCoy look good.

Yep, Tebow played bad...

But, you have to get your players into a flow. cant wait until 4th Q to do that, and thats been the game plan apart from NE game….and guess what….Tebow threw well in that game.

I wonder if Norv will be Availible?
hahaha

How ironic…think of all the dirt we’d get on Rivers…….

This doesn't surprise me at all

The ability for McCoy to install a basically new offense mid season and be succesful, has been nothing short of amazing. People want to blame him for Tebow’s issues throwing the ball, but to me he has been able to help Tebow be a better passer and put plays that can be successful if Tebow pulls the trigger or is accurate. I hope he stays, I really think he is a very talented offensive mind and I would like to see what he could do with a full offseason and some more talent on offense.

There's no excuse for some of the passing concepts...

Say what you want about Tebow, but not calling any screens or 3-step drop quick slants is inexcusable.

The question is how much control Fox gives to McCoy and if it really is McCoy.

I have a feeling that it’s more Fox than McCoy, considering we saw McCoy call plays under Studesville and it was a much more explosive offense (average 24 points per game).

I have a feeling that it’s more Fox than McCoy

Bingo.

but McCoy called more runs the last three games of the season last year, than passes,

an abrupt change from the pass happy plays that McD was calling.

Say what you want about Tebow.

But, what about all the 3 and outs with Orton? Is it McCoy or is it the WR’s not getting open. Think about this….two QB’s and still a lot of 3 and outs.

To me, this is a WTF are they thinking moment.

Makes me wonder what my paradigm about him is missing.

So if he leaves, who should we target?

Not Norv Turner.

I want Rick Dennison somehow, i wish he was our HC and brought wade phillips too, but hey whatever. Tebow on the roll out hitting Julius Thomas, D-Thomas, or Decker down the middle would be a thing of beauty.

Or just an OC who has some sort of creativity in him

The OC from Carolina would probably be ideal

But I doubt he leaves being buds with Cam NewtonI

Short of that I wouold say maybe you would want to target maybe a young up and coming college OC, maybe someone like Dana Holgorson from Oklahoma State

Holgorson is the HC @ West Viriginia now, he left OK state at the end last year to take over the Mountaineers just an Fyi

Who is this Julius Thomas you speak of?

Julius Thomas is a Tight End rookie out of Portland St.

He is a former basketball player turned TE in his last year of college drafted by the Broncos in the 4th rd #129th…At the moment he is a developmental project that will need an offseason to learn…

In three years as Denver’ OC, we’ve had a subpar offense. McCoy was ineffective with Orton and Tebow, with McD and Fox. moreno never developed. DT and Decker are alright. No TEs, Clady regressed…

I’m finding it hard to name a bright spot in McCoy’s tenure as our OC. I sure hope the Jags fall in love with the guy because he’s done nothing for Denver in three years.

He didn't run the offense for two years

Knowshon had never shown he could be a feature back, when a vet like McGhee comes in as a back up and takes your job, rushes for 1,000 yards, it shows Moreno is a bust from the get go.

DT is coming back from an achilles which basically has hampered his ability to be explosive in cutting and his deep speed, yet he still has had a decent year, with a QB who hasn’t been accurate.

Clady is returning from a serious knee injury and still has started every game, so how is it McCoy’s fault that he has struggled with lateral movement coming back from an injury.

In his first year calling plays he had to basically redo the entire offense on the fly and still managed to have the best rushing offense in the league, so what didn’t he exactly do? I am guessing the people in Jacksonville know that he is a talented OC, and they understand that if they get RGIII, McCoy would be the perfect guy to develop an offense that fits his skill set.

What makes you think Orton would be good with any OC, he is a middle of the pack QB at best and has never shown he can do anything other than move the ball between the 20’s with McD or McCoy or any other OC calling the shots. It’s noot like he tore up a medicore Denver defense that was missing Dawkins or any pass rush so to speak, and knowing all the weaknesses.

I always had to beat the Orton fan boys over the head with this, but yards don’t win games. they don’t even appear on the score board. Points are all that matter with an offense and in three years, McCoy has estalished an offense that couldn’t score. Orton couldn’t score and Tebow can’t score. We couldn’t score with B Marshall or Lloyd, couldn’t score with Moreno or McGahee. Not with Dan Graham or Julius Thomas.

Clady returned from an injury in 2010, in 2011 Clady just proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is a good player, but certainly not the blue chip five star player we hoped he was. He hasn’t taken a step forward as a pro in McCoy’s offense(s). Very few of our players have. Certainly not Royal. Any TE, DT and Decker look okay. Willis is a #4 WR playing like a #4 WR.

All you did was list excuses as to why McCoy hasn’t been successful. I asked you to give me a reason why he’s been good in Denver. You gave me excuses why he hasn’t been (valid or not).

Would you move Clady to the right side?

No. Clady isn’t that good. He isn’t a franchise LT. He’s just a good LT.

Leave him where he is and recognize that we don’t have a blue chip LT and haven’t since 2008. Time to face the truth.

Considering how 1-dimensional our offense is, I would go so far as to say we have the best rushing stats in the league IN SPITE OF Mike McCoy inhibiting the offense. We pretty much tell the defense what’s coming but we still can be effective, it’s actually pretty incredible. Tebow, the O-line, McGahee, and Magazu are the reasons we have the best rushing offense in the league.

To be fair, I am not completely blaming McCoy for our insane playcalling, I believe that Fox has a ton of say with how conservative we are. So to answer the question “What didn’t McFox exactly do?”… McFox clearly hasn’t maximized the effectiveness of the offense. McFox continues to have pathetically unimaginative and predictable playcalls peppered in with the occasional QB draw on 3rd and long or trying to get Tebow to be a conventional drop back passer. McFox hasn’t truly bought into what our offense has clearly excelled at. I would hardly say that they redid the entire offense. We have shown great success out of the spread formation, but we don’t truly run a spread offense. In fact we continue to run one of the most conventional offenses in the entire league. Actually strike that last sentence. Our offense is so conservative that it’s unconventional, it’s ineffective, and it represents a shining example of insanity. It would be a tough task to try and come up with a worse offensive gameplan than McFox. To answer the initial question as simply as possible: Mike McCoy hasn’t exactly succeeded as our OC.

McCoy should feel right at home in JAX

The only good part of our offense this year was MOJO who broke the franchise rushing record yesterday. Tim and Blaine had some things in common yesterday. Both looked scared. Blaine releases the ball quickly usually throwing it out of bounds because he doesn’t want to get hit. At least that is the theory of most of the fans. Tim appears to be afraid of making a mistake so he won’t throw the ball unless the WR is open. Then there are the receiver corps. Both have trouble holding on to the ball if it actually reaches them. I have seen many dropped passes this year. Of course the WR are just as inexperienced as the QBs are. Two of the JAG WR that played yesterday were not even on the roster at a few weeks ago. Both the QBs and WRs have potential but need to be developed.
I have no idea the direction the new JAG owner wants to go with the HC though he did say he was interested in someone young. I don’t think you are going to solve your McCoy question by shipping him to JAX. Now Timmy on the other hand….

Something has got to change somewhere....

I hate playing not to lose. I hate QB draws on 3rd and 9. I hate RB draws on 3rd and 13. I hate sweeps on 2nd and 9. I hate being able to predict every single play in every single spot of situational football the Broncos have played in the last three games. I hate not going for a field goal when we at least hit the opposite 40 yd line (even more so when we are at Mile High). I hate not going for it on 4th and 1 on the opposing 20 yd line (especially with a QB the the size of a FB).

If our coach had a more pronounced southern drawl in his speech I would swear its Dan Reeves.wearing a prosthetic mask! I hated Reeves and he wasted a good decade of Elways talents. While i LOVE smash mouth football and a beastly running game there comes a time when you need something more. Variety IS the spice of life. How about a little orange sherbert to offset all that vanilla!!

What your proposing is that we mix in the pass more regularly in our offense...

That’s just fine, except that passing the ball requires a quarterback who can, well, you know, pass the ball. Whatever Tebow’s other virtues, skills, and intangibles might be, the fact is that thus far he is woefully inadequate when it comes to the passing game. This has a rather limiting effect on our play calling.

Want Delhomme? lol

lol, if he was back in his prime? Sure!

this comment pretty much negates everything else you say
When you send 2 receivers

on 30 yard routes I dont consider that a “passing game” . 98% of the passing attempts came off the middle read option play action fake, running 2 receivers on double move routes. When playing man to man coverage , with the defense staying disciplined these routes will NEVER WORK! During our win streak I saw plenty of mixed plays, different routes, and Tim WAS making those passes. Why not continue to do the same? He was progressing nicely with that system and it has changed. So yes I do blame play calling, and predictability in this stale passing game we have seen for the last 3 weeks.

Marc, thats insane...Tebow can pass...threw well against NE...thre well against MIN...when he has had the opportunity to pass CONSISTENTLY he has improved...
So, we have all these 3 and outs with a good passing QB like Orton?

And it’s not McCoy? I guess we all know where you stand on Tebow.

I hate playing not to lose.
I hate not going for a field goal when we at least hit the opposite 40 yd line (even more so when we are at Mile High).
I hate not going for it on 4th and 1 on the opposing 20 yd line (especially with a QB the the size of a FB).

Pure FOX ball.

Yes I know this.

I am just venting, needed to gripe. I love his mentality on running the football. I love his attitude about Defense. And hopefully he will start trusting his team at some point. This ultra conservative decision making is his one downfall, and its very frustrating LOL

It just seems that when we get good players

We end up trading or for some reason create a want to be traded. That goes for Coordinators as well!! It would be nice to have some familiarity with players to so they can build a trust with each other. I would think that would help at coaching as well.

spot on CCB

Continuity and an off season is all we need, along with this years draft and acquisitions.

Actually I think McCoy and Tebow have a good relationship going and could make it work.

If he goes it probably means TT will be traded.

Mike Shula?

but he’d never come to Denver.

Elway is going to make a play for Luck. McCoy and Tebow in JAX, Denver gets their 1st rounder, then Elway uses that, next year’s 1st, a 2nd round pick and a starter on D to try and nab Luck from the Colts…

Interesting

Is that pure speculation? I know Elway is infatuated with Luck…

JAX would never give up even a 3rd for Tebow let alone their first.

So you’re saying Elway would give the Colts our 1st this year and Jax’s 1st AND next years 1st and a 2nd AND a D starter?
No way even a portion of this happens.. That’s b**lsy.

I think if Elway wants Luck, he will find a way to get him.

Tebow and our 1st round pick for Jacksonville’s #7 overall and another pick.
JAX wants Tebow for the revenue he’d bring in (rears in the seats), plus I think they would commit fully to go to Timmy’s strengths. Can you imagine MJD and TT in the backfield?
Anyway, Elway packages those picks and some others plus a starter on D and maybe the Colts bite…
Do you really think that is out of the realm of possibility?
No glue, but I did just have a Firestone Velvet Merlin Oatmeal Stout. Pretty good stuff….

While I'm not giving up on TT

I do not think that’s out of the realm of possibility. A lot would depend on how badly Tebow is or isn’t exposed on national television come Sunday.

Our 1st?

Thought you’re a cards fan. But trolls are gonna troll

Not a cards fan, just a really dumb and uneducated fan. Lots of them around lately.

Nah check out his profile

he’s just looking for responses. Im done with this guy

nevermind he went and changed that quick right after my comment

just keep in mind we’ve never seen him til now

I read the site all the time. I usually only comment on game threads. I’m in CA, absolutely hate the raiders and their fans and have always rooted for the Broncos but became a fan after TT was drafted. Man you are harsh.

Cards are my favorite NFC team, Broncos are my favorite AFC team. Tebow is my favorite player, Larry Fitzgerald is my second favorite player. Both high character guys. Been following every game since Tebow’s been starting.. Sorry to offend you so bad. I just thought this scenario was a plausible one and threw it out there. I still think Elway would much rather have Luck, and that with Tim’s poor play lately, he’s got an opening with the fan base at the moment. Not trying to troll man… Why do you think this idea is so dumb?

The only realistic way to get Luck

is to have the worst record in the NFL. Trading any draft picks from this team while trying to rebuild through the draft doesn’t make any business sense what so ever. What I dont understand is where everyone is getting the idea that Elway wants Luck and would mortgage the Broncos future to do it. That makes no sense either! If any team were to end up trading up for Luck the ramifications would be much more far reaching than Herschal Walker trade which netted the Cowboys their Super Bowls in the 90’s. The only difference would be that Walker was a proven commodity while Luck has never taken an NFL snap.

This is a joke, right?

Because if it’s not… well, you know absolutely nothing about the Jaguars and their fans.

sure, just click his heels together three times and wish Luck onto the Bronco roster. maybe kidnap the Colts new GM’s daughter and hold her for ransom. The #1 pick for Tebow and our #1 pick. Lets make a deal.

Btw McG you’re my favorite poster and commenter not this site… Think I’m going back to just being a reader now… :|

go ahead and change your favorite team while your at it too

I’d put them both on there if sbnation would let me. Seriously what did I say that got you so upset?

Look dude, my apologies for bein a d*ck, but this is what upsets me
Elway is going to make a play for Luck. McCoy and Tebow in JAX, Denver gets their 1st rounder, then Elway uses that, next year’s 1st, a 2nd round pick and a starter on D to try and nab Luck from the Colts…

Weve seen this tired and played out question a million times infinity on MHR. And every time its ridiculous. You think Elway will go for Luck? Try giving up ALL our premier picks from this year, next years 1st, Von Miller and/or Doom, Deck or DT. It’ll be a move that will set this franchise back 5 frickin years Elway isn’t stupid enough to do that. If we had ended up top 3, then I could see a move for Luck, but we are waaaaaaaaaaayyyyy too far out of position for that. And even if Elway was stupid enough to trade away all the picks and players necessary, what makes you so sure Indy will even give up the pick? They are looking for Manning’s successor

I feel bad for being mean, but Luck conspiracy theories just drive me nuts. Brings out the mean in me. And rightfully so.

What got me going was this guy had the Cardinals originally as his fav team

I can tolerate nonsense posts from BFSD and others as long as they at least claim Broncos (supposedly). But an outsider is what really grinds my gears

Dude, Luck is not in play. He’ll be a Colt. Payton Manning is 36 and just had very invasive neck surgery to fuse bones together because he was having trouble with pain and lose of power in his throwing arm. And he is 36 and owed $28MM in bonus money. The Colts just fired the Polians so now they can hire a new GM to put his stamp on the team. Luck will be a Colt. Get that into your head.

Robert Griffith will also be a top pick as well and we have no shot at him. We don’t have the draft pick or player ammo to trade up.

It is as simple as that. Please don’t offer up nonsensical trade scenarios. This is a site for educated fans, not conspiratory theories.

I think you are living in fairy land mate...elway aint that stupid.
Cocaine is a hell of a drug
do you want some /s/

this guys is gonna see

plenty of chain gangs where he is going., Unfortunately for him those chain gangs dont measure first downs :) Can you say Texas Work Farm?

Sure why not?

After all, Im pretty depraved

You huffing paint or sniffing glue? Or both.

The Colts are keeping that pick and drafting Luck. Get used to the idea.

we could trade for aaron rogers, too. and we need a receiver. i like calvin johnson…

i'm ready to start sniffing a Playoff Win!

I thought I saw a thing today

That Peyton wants out of Indy. In that case theirs no way they give up luck!

With the Polians booted, and Manning “shocked” and “stunned” I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if he wanted to move out.

Irsay might be dumb, but he’s not dumb enough to dump Manning.

That was a great move by the Colts that paved the way for Luck to the their pick at #1.

A lot of Tebow's issues are being further highlighted by coaching

Tebow made throws last year that he isn’t making this year, he’s being told to be careful with the ball.

He’s also been told to stay in the pocket and go through his progressions, sometimes this is good sometimes this is bad. Lately it’s been bad because he waits too long, or goes backwards trying to buy time, he’s very hesitant to take off running now a days, even in the zone read.

IDK about John Fox, I’m just putting it out there and that’s being totally honest, I just don’t have a gut feeling either way whether or not he’s good long term. I love that he’s gotten our players to play hard and I love that they are eager to play well for him so as far as this season goes he definitely gets a passing grade from me. Let’s just say that I’m alarmed by continued miscues in clock management and situational football.

Whatever happens folks, here’s to the continued development of our football team and our coaches!!!

TAKE HIM TAKE HIM TAKE HIM

I don’t think it matters who is on the field, he is a lousy play caller, and I’m not a fan of his offense in general either. I hope the Jags lose their mind and take him off our hands.

Do you guys also have a green sticker on the back of your heads during games?

No, ok so how the heck do you know what plays are being called and by whom? Maybe Tebow changes a bunch at the line. Maybe Fox says to run a certain play. Maybe the players on the field are running the wrong route or making the wrong read. We don’t know jack yet we act like we’re privy to all sorts of info. Maybe McCoy is horrible. Or maybe theres a good reason for the madness. Maybe Tebow can’t read the field worth a darn so he makes a perfectly good play look like crap. There are a lot of maybe’s and what if’s and there sure as heck aren’t many certainties. So why don’t we all quit it with the smarter than thou B.S.

It’s been reported that Tebow rarely changes the plays at the line. Most of our plays are called by McCoy and run per his instruction. That’s just the facts my man.

If McCoy moves up I wish him all the best. If he stays I hope he can perform up to our expectations.

Just as players develop their skill sets it is also necessary to be patient with assistant coaches as they develop (if they develop). Hiring and developing staff is a very difficult skill, I have had my fair share of strike outs

McCoy? Whatever...

Dump Fox and make Dennis Allen the HC before he ever gets a chance to go somewhere else.

I love this idea. Fox lost me forever with that last game.

I’ve never seen so many game day mistakes in one game. His clock management is an embarrassment to math, to time, to common sense and general decency.

His overly conservative nature makes him beyond predictable.

Oh I hope he wows them…I’d like to see what our O would be like with a good QB, but man I swear I could game plan better with Tebow as my QB.

offense

Except for McGahee I don’t see any bright spots on our offense and his best years might be behind him. The league caught up with Tebow and I think the OC tried to work to his skill set. He’s limited just like Kyle. I’m surprised we made the playoffs, but I think we need upgrades like quarterback

Regardless how we do against the Steelers

Tebow has earned 2012 season as a starter. I think he’s applying the coaching unto his skill set. The Minnesota game was evidence of these small changes but he has a long way.

I’m not the biggest Tebow fan but I’m still a Bronco fan and I trust Elway to continue making us better.

If McCoy does go to Jax, I’d like to bring in a coach well versed in the west coast offense. It’s usually QB friendly and we can still run the ball. QB coach Clements of GB is an option of that were the case.
