Just when it looks like our coaching cycle at defensive coordinator had come to an end, it looks like Dennis Allen could be a new coach of the Oakland Raiders.
It seemed as if the Broncos would have a similar staff this season after Mike McCoy was not awarded with the Miami Dolphins head coaching position.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Dennis Allen will interview this week with the Raiders via mobile.
If Allen departs from the Broncos, they would have to search for a new one making their streak of new defensive coordinators to seven years in row.

That’s all I can think of. Seriously Allen?
underdog - January 23, 2012
it's like looking at porn
more times than you should even though the Raiders are ugly scumbags
the new Bradfather - January 23, 2012
BIG BIG BIG problem
IMO Dennis Allen would have been the Denver HC in 2013.
Denver should offer DC/Asst HC
DLMyers - January 23, 2012
fox would have to go about 2-14 next year to be gone by 2013. not likely.
oxmouth - January 23, 2012
and if we were that bad our D probably wouldn't be top 10 so Allen probably would be gone too.
BroncoMath101 - January 23, 2012
Don't understand
Why Allen and McCoy are getting so much interest…Our defense was better, but we still got blown out big time against lions, packers, pats…and overall were a pretty average D…Seems like a longshot.
DLou84 - January 23, 2012
Because the defense improved from dead last up near the middle of the pack
and McCoy got excellent results with a limited QB.
KaptainKirk - January 23, 2012
+ 1
tiderfootball09 - January 23, 2012
Also because they would be weakening a division rival
who would know our systems inside out as well. It would be a coup for the Raiders and a bummer for us. We are 2-3 players away (Ty Warren might be one of them) from having a real good defense. This would set us back again for sure.
dmitchell624 - January 23, 2012
Really, can we not have any more conspiracy talk on this sight.
This is kinda a big deal for the Raiders, and I don’t think they are too concerned with hiring a head coach who knows our old defensive system.
broncoboy326 - January 23, 2012
Yeah
Definitely the positive way of looking at it. Hey, I like the guys and want them to stay! Just don’t think they have the greatest Head Coaching resumes yet…
DLou84 - January 23, 2012
Key Difference....
I think the major difference is that Fox is a defensive guy. So what ever DC we bring in… he will probably keep most of the things we do the same. So we won’t be learning a completely new system like we did when Bates, Nolan, and Wink left.
I doubt Fox brings in a guy that is going to tell him how to run an NFL defense. My guess… he goes with someone he has worked with before… or is familiar with from a competitive standpoint.
Triz06 - January 23, 2012
Like Del Rio?
BroncoMath101 - January 23, 2012
They could do way worse than Del Rio
pubkeeper - January 23, 2012
Dude....
If our D could play like Jax D has over the years… we could be that team that nobody wants to play.
Triz06 - January 23, 2012
Although....
Jax always gets murdered by the Pats… usually in embarrasing fashion too.
Triz06 - January 23, 2012
Weve been getting embarrased for a while now too
Calikula - January 23, 2012
Del Rio
was Fox’s DC his first year in CAR. Went from 31st to top 5. It would be a great option. JDR runs the only full 2-gap 4-3 in NFL from what I understand. Vikings do also a bit
KansasBronco - January 24, 2012 via mobile
if we do lose allen
it would definitely suck, but i also think fox isn’t getting enough credit for what’s been done. he’s been a defense guy longer than allen and i’d bet that allen learned a lot from fox this season. this is still fox’s defense, even down to his influence on personnel.
oxmouth - January 23, 2012
I say the real problem here is
Loosing him to perhaps our biggest rivals!!
And yes another D coordinator. But I do agree Foxy is the stability on the D side of the ball.
CenCalBronco - January 23, 2012 via mobile
I'll be praying that he stays
Man…why couldn’t McCoy have gone? He is much more replaceable than Allen.
sadaraine - January 23, 2012
Look at it this way....
What kind of job security has Oakland offered their HC’s? Answer is absolutely NONE! The revolving door that has been the Faders HC spot is a joke. If I were Allen I would negotiate an ironclad contract with stipulations of FULL payment regardless of when or if he gets fired next season LMAO. We all know how good the Faders are at honoring their deals with HC’S. Heck with Oakland’s track record, Allen would be crazy to accept anything less than payment up front :)
Disturbed70 - January 23, 2012
They may be a little more stable with Al Davis gone.
sc31089 - January 23, 2012
I seriously doubt
the Son of Al will be any different. But who knows :)
Disturbed70 - January 23, 2012
just remember
Carson Palmer was brought in after Al took a dirt nap so the imbecile component remains high
the new Bradfather - January 23, 2012
Good point
after all those years the “imbecile component” has probably soaked so deeply into the carpet and wallpaper we may still see the effects years from now.
…….let’s hope
sc31089 - January 23, 2012
Yeah but the imbecile who made that decision is gone now too
The fact is they have a stable, smart GM now, Alas. Which is one reason they’re looking at someone young and smart like Allen. Yes, with Bucky Larson (Al Davis Jr.) in charge there will still be some chaos, thankfully, but I don’t think we can count on them to be as stupid now.
But thankfully they also have only 3 draft picks this year, haha.
underdog - January 23, 2012
don't make fun of my dad, you Broncos winning your championships and all that
the new Bradfather - January 23, 2012
BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
PaleHorse78 - January 23, 2012
Bradfather
was this off Nick Swardson’s show, or Reno 911? Or something else entirely? It’s a fact – you haven’t ever grown up from liking toilet humor if you enjoy Nick Swardson. Did you ever see the skit on “Pretend Time” with the dild-light?
PaleHorse78 - January 23, 2012
I'm pretty sure this is from Bucky Larson
Surprisingly good for as much crap as I heard talked on it in the reviews… Well either that or my sense of humor is surprisingly stunted.
Poster_Formerly_Known_As_Royal_Fan - January 23, 2012
it is Bucky Larson I believe
the new Bradfather - January 23, 2012
I don't know the in and outs of NFL coaches
but IMO it’s pretty near treason-like to jump ship after just one year under a boss, who had either decided to keep you on from a prior regime, or just plain, outright hired you. Probably no rules broken. Just a bit disturbing, continuity wise, on both sides of the football.
9798 - January 23, 2012
yeah, that would suck for us.
but if I was searching for a new hc, i’d be looking at Chuck Pagano or Vic Fangio or Greg Roman.
…and not because they all have Italian names.
wyrob - January 23, 2012
F**K!!!!!
Calikula - January 23, 2012
well yeah, that too.
oxmouth - January 23, 2012
I need some Skol...
Calikula - January 23, 2012
it's true.
Skol is much more of a need than a want.
oxmouth - January 23, 2012
yeah, only for crappy moments like this
seriously, can we keep a f@@cking dc for more than a year? Might be nice
Calikula - January 23, 2012
short answer? no. no, we can’t keep a DC for more than a year.
long answer: we technically could if his name is wink martindale.
oxmouth - January 23, 2012
I don't drink alcohol

the new Bradfather - January 23, 2012

this beer is a redneck’s dream!!! Extra strong beer…. from the makers of Skoal? Why yes….. yes I do.
PaleHorse78 - January 23, 2012
I was thinking more along the lines of this...
Calikula - January 23, 2012
yours is stronger and has the depressing ‘i had to sleep in a city park last night’ feel to it.
brad’s looks more cheery. and there also seems to be picnic table cloth underneath. bet there’s a barrel of chicken not too far away…
oxmouth - January 23, 2012
I feel mine is more suitable for this type of occasion
These coordinators need to quit plucking at my Broncos heart strings already. I cant take much more. I’ll be at the park with my skol and 40 to comfort me if you and tusc need me…
Calikula - January 23, 2012
i’ll bring the chicken bucket.
oxmouth - January 24, 2012

The Raiders getting our DC is bad on several levels. I like Allen and I think another year in the system will help everyone
Baghdad - January 23, 2012
To be honest we all know he is good enough to get the job
therefore maybe he should. I heard Winston Moss is the leading candidate though.
It’s funny you know, all we have as fans as far as information on players and coaches is stuff that anybody in the world could get. The INTERNET is a crazy thing. Do you really think Allen and McCoy are HC candidates because of what they accomplished this year in Denver? If you do you’re dumber than you look LOL.
Digger24 - January 23, 2012
1 year removed from being a position coach is good enough to get HC job?
To get an interview – maybe. To actually be hired as HC – would be a big gamble. Judging by experience with recent very young head coaches (McD and Morris), it is a bad gamble. But maybe for Raiders hurting us is key.
si_ice - January 23, 2012 via mobile
I was referring to
FOs being privy to more than just stats. They probably know what they are like as a human being beyond their job. Same with the prospects and the players we already have. I know we’re not supposed to judge someone, but after seeing that pic of Von in the Horsetracks the other day, I lost a little bit of fandom for him. I saw part of his personality that I didn’t know about. Now I doubt the new Nike orange jersey I buy will be #58. Wow I got way off track. Sorry.
Digger24 - January 23, 2012
True, he may be HC material. same with McCoy
We don’t know enough.
And I agree on Von. Somehow I expected better of him. I guess his bespectacled look fooled me. Or smooth talk. I get that he is a young guy who got paid mega bucks for the first time in his life, but there are classier ways to relieve mental and physical stress. I had no reason to expect more of any player, I guess.
si_ice - January 23, 2012 via mobile
Yeah IDk why
I had him as a goody two shoes guy either. There is nothing wrong with the new image I percieved from the pic, just that it wasn’t what I expected.
Digger24 - January 23, 2012
I don't understand how someone dresses
Affects someones view on them. Isnt that a bit stereotypical? So what, he dresses like every other football player his age and with his money. Doesnt mean he should be frowned on just by his appearance. Now if he played like J. Moss then o can see it because of his lack of abilitiesbut the dudes a monster. Quit sounding like a bunch of elders in a home not wanting to adjust to the new age and times.
broncs27 - January 23, 2012 via mobile
No he should not be frowned upon
it does not make him a bad person. I don’ t know of any dress standards Mr. Bowlen has. On the other hand, at my work, I am expected to look presentable, especially if I represent the company at a meeting or high school basketball tournament, whatever it be. Different companies, different standards, but no looking like a homeless guy is not bad unless you’re a cheating scumbag like Bill Belichick :)
the new Bradfather - January 23, 2012
You are totally right
and I am embarrassed that I judge on appearance. I shouldn’t be acting like a bunch of Elders :) you’re right.
Digger24 - January 23, 2012
as my fellow Mormons who are Elders would tell you

the new Bradfather - January 23, 2012

Digger24 - January 23, 2012
History repeating itself...
if it happens (which I still think he’s 3rd or 4th right now anyway), it’s not like this would be new for Fox. Jack Del Rio, his first DC in Carolina and a first time DC got hired by Jacksonville after 1 year, and they made the Super Bowl the next year.
Brothers - January 23, 2012
Jack Del Rio
Has Del Rio been hired anywhere yet ? If not he could be a option to replace Dennis Allen if he leaves .
ultraclassic04 - January 23, 2012
Agree with you both, Del Rio would be a great replacement
underdog - January 23, 2012
if Dennis Allen
lusts after a head coaching job so badly that he’ll take any gig, he’ll regret it, there are plenty of good defensive minds we can get, please Allen, I care about you, don’t go to the Black Hole, you may never recover
the new Bradfather - January 23, 2012
Surely Allen is smart enough to look at that organization and kindly say FU
There is no loyalty built into that organization. No coach in his right mind would choose to go there.
trumanj - January 23, 2012
it's like
when our bishop/stake president tells us about porn, don’t look a second time :), Allen is like King David looking at Bathsheba, of course, David’s life went to hell thereafter and so will Allen’s if he persists in this foolishness
the new Bradfather - January 23, 2012
Just look at every other coach in recent years
All have been fired without much cause.
Its just crazy
trumanj - January 23, 2012
Tom Cable, etc.

the new Bradfather - January 23, 2012
I was very disappointed with sunday's results
I do not want to watch the superbowl this year.
First we had to watch LSU and Alabama again now this.
trumanj - January 23, 2012
it was disheartening
my mom wanted Ravens and Niners, we are both really tired of New England :(
the new Bradfather - January 23, 2012
Feel the same way
Out of the 12 teams in the playoffs, there’s only one team I’d less like to have in the game (Lions). I was so upset Sunday that my wife actually asked if we were even going to watch the Super Bowl this year… I had to admit we would, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it lol.
Poster_Formerly_Known_As_Royal_Fan - January 23, 2012
that's how I feel
Eli Manning is a good kid and I always like to see NE lose, even Giants/Ravens would have been better because that has a payback mentality for the Giants.
the new Bradfather - January 23, 2012
I just wanted to see Ray Lewis win and retire.
Sick of him and that team.
Though I am far more sick of Brady and his dumb ugg boots.
trumanj - January 23, 2012
Career suicide.
The only way I would take that job is if I had a minimum 4 year guaranteed contract and even then I’d be worried that the Raiders would try and renege on it after half a season or so.
MrFNSunshine - January 23, 2012
as we saw with Carson Palmer
the Raiders’ perpetual problem still persists, not that I care :) In any case, their problems are only going to continue
the new Bradfather - January 23, 2012
This kind of makes me smile...
after so many years of seeing one or both coordinators fired because they suck, it’s nice to know that some other teams like our stuff better than their own.
Watch that John Fox coaching tree grow.

Digger24 - January 23, 2012
Word to that!
aLuffabo - January 23, 2012
I hope he doesn't go for his sake but if he does we can always hire Del Rio as our new DC. He's worked with Fox before and puts together pretty decent defenses.
BroncoMath101 - January 23, 2012
absolutely
Jack of the River is a smart DC, just not a head man
the new Bradfather - January 23, 2012
He did it for a while and had some decent success in a crappy market with largely mediocre players… I think he was all right.
aLuffabo - January 23, 2012
he was tenured for a long time

Yes, it's Mr. Khan, the Jags' owner
the new Bradfather - January 23, 2012
did you hear what that douche already did?
he already alienated his fanbase by going on record to say, “you’re not a true fan if you’re not a season ticket holder.” Ummm, hello…. Mr. Khan? You do realize that the Jags don’t really have fans anymore, and it’s your job to win some over. What a D-Nozzle!!! Here’s the link:

PaleHorse78 - January 23, 2012
No way, no how would Smith use any kind of Wink's defensive philosophies...
Smith actually spent time here before, so he’s well acquainted witht he organozation and surroundings.
bfree2bronc - January 23, 2012
I see what you're sayin' bfree.... BUT...
you never really know until they actually become a head coach.
PaleHorse78 - January 23, 2012
I don't think coach Smith has any ambitions of becoming a head coach as he is 57 years old and 23 years of ass't living set's a man's profile for life most of the time.
What I trying to say is, if Allen does leave the team for greener pastures, john Fox will have the overall say in how the defense is run. No free lancing under Fox’s watch I’m sure, both he and the DC agree on the gameplans and how the defense will work scheme wise…
bfree2bronc - January 23, 2012
How many LBers did Wink coach to the Pro bowl? How did his defenses do when he was DC? Thats the real question.

PaleHorse78 - January 24, 2012
allen can go
if his plan to attack to best qb’s in the league is the 3-man rush all day long, good riddance. rush 4 like the final 4 do. i put the n.e. loss on him not trying to interrupt brady’s field day, and mccoy getting schooled and not adjusting to their blitzes. we never had a chance, regardless of the qb or defensive talent we possess.
my take, take them both, there’s better out there. i like fassell for mcgahee-up-the-middle, and del rio’s name has popped up here for piddle-pants-boy, which i also like. i would like to upgrade both asap. continuity? tebow and fox will lead the way…
