Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller is one of five finalists for the Pepsi Rookie Of The Year. The 6-3, 237 lb. SAM Linebacker ranked tied for 9th in the NFL with 11.5 Sacks on the season. Miller led the team in Sacks, Tackles For Loss (19) and Quarterback Hits (24). He tied Rulon Jones 1980 franchise Sack record for a rookie. At Miami (Week 7), Von recorded his 5th consecutive game with a Sack, the longest streak by a Denver Rookie since LB Mike Croel had a Sack in six consrcutive games in 1991. He was named NFL Rookie of the Month for November and nominated for Pepsi Rookie of the Week 3 times this season. The #2 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, Miller had 64 Tackles (50 solo) and started all 15 games he appeared in.
Von is up against QB Andy Dalton of the Cincinnati Bengals, QB Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers, CB Patrick Peterson of the Arizona Cardinals and LB Aldon Smith of the San Francisco 49ers.

I'd say it's realistically gotta be between
Miller and Dalton. Both guys are directly and indirectly responsible for their respective teams making it to the post season.
Thanks Kap’n! I feel that Miller deserves it, even with the late drop off because of the injury. I didn’t know he led the team in tackles for loss and qb hits too! Watch out Pittsburgh, here comes the Miller Monster!!!

Draft
Regardless how the game plays out I’m excited for the turnaround. I think this next draft and free agency are going to put this team back on top

All are worthy candidates. Von will not win it though
He was doing well until his injury. Now even his sack total is below Aldon Smith’s. And Peterson and both QBs had spectacular achievements this year. Let’s wish Von a full recovery from his injury and many more better seasons.

I voted for him anyway

Newton gets it.
You dont
breakshatter that many records and not get it. Carolina got a good one.Miller and Dalton are a tie for me. Both were the “extra pieces” needed to make their respective units (def/off) contenders.
Peterson is great and all, and he had some AWESOME returns, but I dont think he had as much impact as the names above.
Aldon Smith is a situational pass-rusher, who doesnt start, who didnt have to deal with a full season of play/wear&tear. Congrats on the sacks, but he no where near the contributor that other nominees are.

+1
Nicely summed

Yeah, Cam Newton wins - probably fairly easily, too
But Von was a monster, and I hope he gets Defensive ROY over Aldon Smith.

Aldon Smith's stats are well below Von Miller except the fact that Smith leads the sacks category by 2.5...
Miller should win the title hands down.

Von has also won some other awards
- Rookie of the Year from Pro Football Focus
- All-Pro from Pro Football Focus
- Top OLB from Advanced NFL Stats
Quite the stud.

Ewww... I don't like the Von Miller - Mike Croel comparison...
Croel ended up being a bust after his rookie year…
But, like the sack streak!
