For those fans of the Denver Broncos cowering over the thought of a Wild Card Playoff loss at home this Sunday, rise up! Pittsburgh Steelers starting center Maurkice Pouncey has either been pronounced out (according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette) for the game against Denver this weekend.
Pouncey missed Week Fifteen and Sixteen this season, before returning Week Seventeen only to aggravate his injured ankle. Doug Legursky will replace Pouncey--as he did in the Steelers' Super Bowl match-up last season.
Pouncey isn't the only injured Steeler this weekend; anyone who has been paying attention to the injury report will know that there are quite a few notable Pittsburgh names being listed, including: Legursky (who is replacing Pouncey), Troy Polomalu, James Harrison, Mewelde Moore, and Ben Roethlisberger.

We should take advantage of their beat up O line and gimpy Ben. Hopefully they bring the pressure!

I cannot imagine a situation in which Denver
Will not issue an all out assault on Ben Roethlisberger. Short passes and quick slants could get interesting.

Maybe he should spend more time in the tatoo parlor than in the strength and conditioning room...
This may or may not hamper their running game, but Bunkley and Thomas should have a big day…

lol, what? You know pretty much all of those were already there before he got to Pittsburgh?
This isn’t Terrell Pryor..he’s actually a football player, and he takes his job seriously. That’s how he got to start as a rookie at position that not many rookies ever get to start in.

Pouncey played with TT at FL and would know all about him.
Maybe we caught another break?
Boiler etc - January 6, 2012
With Kuper out and Larson and Dawkins… I’m not thinking we caught much of a break.
McGeorge - January 6, 2012
Don't think so Either??
But it Help’s. We need a great practice and our QB throwing without hesitation. If that happens I like the BRONC’S . TIME FOR DUMERVIL TO STEP-UP..

Explain
KoloradoKaos - January 6, 2012
um yeah since Tebow plays LB right?

Pouncey seems a bit overrated to me
But what do I know, it’s not like I watch every Steelers game and focus on their interior lineman. Still, with Rashard out and a backup center, it’s pretty easy to assume they’ll have a hard time running the ball. I think that could make them more one dimensional which would allow us to be more aggressive in our pass defense. A good amount of snow would likely force this Steelers offense into doing what they’re unlikely to do well… run. It would be a late Christmas present, and a great one at that.

I promise you, he’s not overrated. I’m not saying this from a homer view (trust me, there are a few players on the team I feel are overrated) He is truly a once in a generation type talent playing a very difficult position.
FrankWyt - January 6, 2012
I wouldn't agree with this at all
The guy has had two really tough injuries to close a season but has played more than well in his first two years. In fact last year, I was regretting the fact that we didn’t take him instead of Walton.
Bronco Mike - January 6, 2012
We all wanted Pouncey
I don’t stand by call there. Like I said, I feel like he’s overrated a bit, but I’m not at all qualified to debate it since I’ve only seen 4 or 5 of their games this year.

Sounds to me like "Tebow magic"
hopefully we play well rounded football and pull out the W…

This is HUGE!!
Redmond is a North-South runner, so running up the middle is going to be tough without Pouncey. And, blitz protection could be a challenge without the “QB of the O-Line.”
Bunkley and Thomas could be living in Big Ben’s face. Going to really help VonDoom get to him.
shasta77 - January 6, 2012
it works for me!
the new Bradfather - January 6, 2012
Redman has show ability to run in a variety of situations. He, unlike Mendenhall, doesn’t need a hole, he still finds a way to turn 3 yard losses in to 4 yard gains. That said..the loss of Pouncey could be huge.
FrankWyt - January 6, 2012
More important is a possible poor exchange with a key turnover.
ThorpeBroncosfan - January 6, 2012
And Pouncey's backup is gimpy too
Legursky is not 100% either. Could be a big day for our boys in the middle.
shasta77 - January 6, 2012
Should say Denver Bronco and All Pro starting center Maurkice Pouncey…. Damn you McJedi and Alphonso Smith…
Glad he is out. he’s one of the best Centers in the NFL.
McGeorge - January 6, 2012
True
KoloradoKaos - January 6, 2012
From IAOFM:
So maybe he plays afterall?
CompUser - January 6, 2012
Pouncey Quote
“I am very distraught about not being able to play in this game”. It does not sound like he is playing. Quote was in article on espn.com.
