It has been said many different ways since the 1300's, but you'll recognize it as something along the lines of, "Believe in nothing that you hear and only half of what you see."
Internet rumors (oh, those internet guys) spiraled around over the last few hours beginning with a PFT report citing a source who stated that Denver Broncos quarterback Brady Quinn was receiving some first team reps. My immediate thought was that wouldn't be that ordinary at all. Why wouldn't Quinn get a few first team reps?
I don't know standing operating procedure around Dove Valley perfectly, but there has to be times in the week when Tim Tebow needs to sit, tie his shoe, talk to a coach, or any of the other hundreds of things required of a starting quarterback in the NFL. Quinn likely takes snaps with the first team constantly throughout the week.
Then came the obvious rebuttal from Quinn via NFL.com's Jeff Darlington, Quinn through a text, told Darlington that he normally receives, "One or two," reps on Fridays and today he received two reps with the first team.

Asked about the internal discussions earlier in the week, which were disclosed by a team source, Quinn said there have been other instances when he has been involved in talks about a possible package, but in any of those instances, the team has later backed off and allowed [Tim] Tebow to remain the team's sole quarterback.
Monkey wrench equals thrown. For about an hour some poor tape guy in Pittsburgh was biting his nails concerned with the idea that he would have to pull tape on Quinn from the last two preseasons and 2009.
If you want a real monkey wrench though, how about this. John Fox says that the Broncos probably won't give Tebow any more opportunities to, "Pull the trigger," than they have in the rest of the season. Via SportsRadioInterviews.com-
What is your reaction to the people who say the Broncos should open up their offensive game plan?
"I don't really understand what that means unless they say pass it a lot more. If you look at our stats whenever we have thrown it 35 or 45 times it's been very lopsided, so I'd say they gotta stick to what they do because they know that better than they know this."
There you have it fans, what say you?

I think Tebow can really do this Sunday, I really do.
bodega - January 6, 2012
I do agree
It just makes little sense that the practice before the biggest game of Tim Tebow’s professional career his reps would be cut short.
IanHenson - January 6, 2012
I live in Seattle and don’t get to feel out how this playoff atmosphere is in Denver. Is it all doom like its portrayed everywhere else?
bodega - January 6, 2012
From this lifelong Broncos fan...No
As a matter of fact, I’m feeling better and better as the week progresses. I don’t know if it’s because it’s been so long, or if we are playing at home…but I’ve got that same old feeling this week that I used to get before we won a playoff game. I’m feeling pretty good and pretty confident this story isn’t over yet.
BlueandOrangeinmyblood - January 6, 2012
I think that it is up in Denver
More so than in the past, then again with the exception of 2005 it has been a very long time since the Broncos had a playoff game that they stood a chance in.
IanHenson - January 6, 2012
Hahahahah
Soonerbronco - January 6, 2012
well yeah, like it was said : people would invent anything
bodega - January 6, 2012
Disgusting. Sad. Good Riddance.
Side note: Quinn said he used to get more reps with first-team offense when Orton was around, mostly because Orton didn’t want all of them.

If it is "ICE COLD" milk.. and I mean ice cold...
it might be worth crying over… Especially if there are warm chocolate cookies involved.

Jeff Darington on KOA right now
I didn’t mean to create this controversy, no harm no foul…
the new Bradfather - January 6, 2012
Tebow has thrown 20 or more passes in 8 games.
We’ve won 4 and lost 4.
The 4 we won- Miami, Oakland, Jets, Chicago.
The 4 we lost- Detroit, New England, Buffalo, KC
The 3 lopsided losses against Detroit, New England and Buffalo were total meltdowns by all phases of the team. Tebow had little to do with the New England loss other then his fumble so I don’t know what Fox is talking about.
Nick Cast - January 6, 2012
The Buffalo game was a meltdown by Tebow and the ST.
The D gave up one TD and 4 FG…not exactly a bad game. I’d take 19 points from the Defense any day.
Tim Lynch - January 6, 2012
Field position
D failed us there.
Also got lucky with 2 missed FG’s. Not a great performance, just good to keep them out of the end zone.
Still, Tebow does have to play better. His “meltdown” was mainly late, taking extra chances ’cause he had to – but he has to play better I agree.
Summitgrad - January 7, 2012
One of Tebow's best games all season
was the New England game.
IanHenson - January 6, 2012
This
Soonerbronco - January 6, 2012
Agreed
the_prodigal_fan - January 6, 2012
Silliness
Quinn probably gets 1-2 more snaps in one practice and Florio (PFT) hits the launch button. Outside the obvious positives of a playoff win, I just want to win this game to shut this kind of crap down.
Sacto Bronco - January 6, 2012
Tebow's been traded?
yibberat - January 6, 2012
I am still trying to grasp how the MSM pukes now consider Brady Quinn a better option at QB.
Do they even remember watching him play? I do….and no thanks! Tebow can be awful too, but at least he has been good at times as well. DUH!
Tim Lynch - January 6, 2012
Tebow is a run throw option.
If they would just play the whole game from the shotgun, and start every play with a fake to the receiver and the zone read….which you can throw from them they will make the defense guard all of it and open up nice runs and throws….the last couple of games they get a couple of first downs from shotgun then say, hey, let’s go under center and stall this drive. Also, Tebow is more comfortable with more receivers out their, spread out…….so let’s go in a stack formation….nonsense….it’s as if they burn the game tape after and never look at what works and doesn’t work. Tebow needs to let it rip, they need some crossing routes, dumps to rbs, and to throw on first down from the shotgun when the defense is most off balance. Tebow can make the throws, watch the tape. Our wrs need to go at the ball like banshees and either catch it or knock it down….let er rip Timmy, let’s do this….Go Broncos!!!!
Soonerbronco - January 6, 2012
Agree!
Kronis - January 7, 2012
I live an hour outside of Cleveland, so I was treated to watching every single game Quinn started.
Anyone who actually thinks that Quinn would be the better option needs to be checked into the hospital immediately to deal with the complications from their lobotomy.
the_prodigal_fan - January 6, 2012
Hahahahah.
Soonerbronco - January 6, 2012
but…but…but….he’s so pretty/dreamy…that counts, right?
FrankWyt - January 6, 2012
Are you serious?
Cleveland was wack bro. Not my fault that there aren’t any good hair stylists in that crappy state. So yeah, I needed to get out and throwing to the other team seemed a good way to do that. Not my fault at all. Just wait til Sunday, then you see whats UP.
bradyquinn - January 6, 2012
What's up would be my blood pressure if they actually put him in the game. Lol
the_prodigal_fan - January 6, 2012
Can Brady play slot receiver? How about a crossing route?
Soonerbronco - January 6, 2012
Would that be considered cruel and unusual, or just putting him out of his misery?
the_prodigal_fan - January 7, 2012
It's called the backup QB syndrome
If you lose games, the backup QB gets lots of good press. Especially given that half of the MSM has said Tebow can’t do it – so now they want to be proven right.
Summitgrad - January 7, 2012
Sorry to burst ya’lls bubbles but I am starting this week and I’m going to BLOW your MINDS. Timmy boy could probably hit the backside of a barn with a football, but not anything smaller than that. The Steelers will be so amazed by my good looks that they won’t even bother sacking me for fear of ruining my heavenly face.
So that’s the story. Sorry Te-blowmaniacs – there’s a new QB in town, and his name is Brady Quinn AKA B-Quiddy AKA Battlestar Qualaxica.
PEACE!
bradyquinn - January 6, 2012
Haha
That’s what we need more of on this site, actual Broncos accounts that aren’t pretending to be someone else.
Thanks for posting Brady.

I...
enjoyed this
AlwaysRightSometimes - January 6, 2012
Denver doesnt need to open it up more
but Fox should put him in better situations. Any defense can key in on a QB on 3rd and 8 situations. Let him get comfortable throwing some slants on first downs like the rest of the good QB’s. Also try not to Play action on EVERY SINGLE snap from under the center, thats 2 seconds wasted looking in the back field instead of down field
sparker2513 - January 6, 2012
exactly
Boiler etc - January 6, 2012
That says it all about Orton
Calikula - January 6, 2012

the_prodigal_fan - January 6, 2012
I don't want to sound too conspiratory
but why would Quinn go out of his way to squash these rumors? If the public and the enemy thinks they have to spend time preparing for another quarterback, why wouldn’t you just let them go ahead and think it?
Rodney A - January 6, 2012
my theory is
Quinn did get additional reps this week. Mainly based on the fact they plan on running the ball until the wheels fall off with Tim. Over the past few weeks he has been keeping the ball less and less on the read option.
We might see an old school real deal option team this week
This week its all or nothing and they plan on running him until either they can break the steeler D or the steeler D breaks him.
BRASO - January 6, 2012
Yes, I feel.like a conspiracy nut as well, but a lot of these play calls are nonsense no matter what the defense does....
Soonerbronco - January 6, 2012
How can he be broken if his number is never called except on a predictable up-the-middle play?
Hell, he won’t even let Tebow run it when it’s 4th and inches. (and he’s faced outside containement before….)
Boiler etc - January 6, 2012
How many 3rd and inches did we have with a runs to the outside? Tebow is a big man, and can pickup inches.
Kronis - January 7, 2012
He wasn't the only one.
Writers from the DP (Lindsey & Klis), DMac from 104.3, Jeff Legwold, and MaxDenver had all reported the same thing before the report w/ BQ denying extra reps came out. Or at least before I read it.
iBleedorangeandblue - January 6, 2012
Just got my copy of the first NFL Magazine...Cool.
bfree2bronc - January 6, 2012
Nice!
The cover is my background on my work computer haha. That was probably my favorite Christmas present from my wife…TWO copies of the first issue. She said one for me to read and one for me to frame, shrink wrap, and lock in a safe for 50 years or so.
DominantDenverDefense - January 6, 2012
I'm sure BQ
Has no interest in getting mauled by Pitts defence at this point. He can win the starting job next season in training camp much more easily.
azdenfan - January 6, 2012
Is it me
Or does it seem like the Denver media is out of control. I listen to Les Shapiro 102.3 today as I do every day, on the Internet since I don’t live anywhere near Colorado. Sad to say you would think they are a Pittsburg station as much negativity comes out of there mouths. He’s not the only one as the afore mentioned……
markymark200471 - January 6, 2012
Well your first problem is listening to Les Shapiro.
Everyone knows he pines for the days Elway was QB and no other QB will do unless they are a carbon copy of the Duke. If he would get his nose out of Elway’s old jock straps, maybe he would be a little better informed and not be quite so negative. Three game slide aside, our team is dangerous, especially at home in a game no one gives us a chance to win. If Pittsburgh is not very careful, they could be going home for the offseason early.
the_prodigal_fan - January 6, 2012
You absolutely right
About les having his lips puckered,up on Elways butt. When I was a kid growing up in Colorado, Shapiro was a respectable reporter. Seems as though he’s lost touch with what makes the Broncos who they are, the fans. Weather Tebow stinks or he’s the next coming, I had hoped he would use his position in radio to build the fans up with positive radio shows, not the case. I suppose he may do it for ratings , I believe he has taken it too far. When fans call to counter his opinion , many time it ends with verbal assaults . I think I listen in the hope his stance will soften on our 2012 quarter back. I’ll never understand why some people just can’t enjoy the ride we are on NOW, and not continuallly shove there insecure opinions of the past down our throats.
markymark200471 - January 6, 2012
Many of the Denver sports casters are extremely pompous. Several often act like jerks and paint any bronco fans with divergent opinions to theirs as morons and sycophants of Tebow.
Its hard to listen to their negativity. They are probably just trying to stir the pot, but It turns me off. They just often sound like arrogant jerks. I like 93.7 because they seem to actually talk football and it’s not all Tebow all the time and all Tebow sucks all the time. D Mack had a fun show today….addition by subtraction…
Soonerbronco - January 6, 2012
Agree
With this too, unfortunate that the Denver media is like this. I spent a fair part of my time listening to the Pittsburg stations, I found myself wishing the Colorado sports media was half what the Pitt media is. Those guys are excited for there team to play, not scared out of there little tighty whities ….
markymark200471 - January 6, 2012
Mark Schlereth is more of an 'anal-ist' than a Bronco to me anymore...
after listening to him pick against the Broncos for like 8 weeks in a row, and rip on Tebow day after day… I don’t like him.
He may have been a Bronco back in the day, but he’s officially a SELL OUT to me now. STICK TO ESPN STINK – unless you start reppin the Broncos rain or shine yuh bum!
AlwaysRightSometimes - January 6, 2012
I agree completely.
I stop watching as soon as Schlereth is on the screen. He along with Colin Cowherd have been among the biggest douche bags in regards to Tebow IMO.
the_prodigal_fan - January 6, 2012
I had a feeling Fox would drag some QB controversy bullshit
If this is just one giant Mind f*** (P. Diddy style) then whatever, but this reeks of crap. Quinn hadn’t thrown a significant NFL pass in two years, and now we throw him to the wolves (Pittsburgh D)? He shit his pants against the 3rd string Cardinals defense this preseason, what’s he gonna do when James Harrison comes after him?
CombatChuk - January 6, 2012
Nice get him to the Greek ref.
Soonerbronco - January 6, 2012
It's just to put pressure on Tebow
Most QB’s need less pressure – but Tebow thrives when it gets tough. So, maybe it’s just a little extra “make the plays” pressure?
Quinn isn’t going to change the game for us – but maybe it’ll put a little extra competitive juices into Tebow… He thrives on that stuff.
Summitgrad - January 7, 2012
Don't buy into internet rumors crap.
Tebow is the starter against Pittsburgh. He will be the starter throughout the entire game. Brady Quinn is absolutely horrible and it will be good riddance when he leaves after this season.
Broncs4ever - January 6, 2012
i didn't think Quinn was that bad
his worst preseason game was still better than Tebow’s two stinkers the past couple weeks.
this isn’t me saying Quinn>Tebow, because c’mon
just saying Quinn isn’t absolutely horrible and probably wouldn’t be the worst thing ever on the field. we already saw the worst thing ever last year at home vs Oakland!
Tollyvolley127 - January 7, 2012
Doesn't Fox's comment re: not opening up the playbook bother anyone??
Guess he’ll wait till the 4th quarter.
Boiler etc - January 6, 2012
Yes, yes, and.........yes. Shotgun, short passes, rhythm....
Soonerbronco - January 6, 2012
Maybe it's me but it seems McFox are doing less and less of those lately
and how’s that working out? He sees the field better when not under center. Damn.
Boiler etc - January 6, 2012
Yes!
Kronis - January 7, 2012
I'd argue they are more creative than any coaching team in the NFL
just it’s mostly runs. Passing a ton in the 2nd half vs Buffalo didn’t work better.
We’ve had a couple tough games lately (compounded by game changing bad calls – Tebow facemask, punt return block in the back called on us after ignoring a worse one on Buffalo the play before) that put us in tough situations. Then last week Tebow was too cautious throwing the ball away or holding it too long – after the turnovers vs Buffalo it was understandable, though unfortunate. But he’s a super competitive QB – they’ll be hyped up and ready this week. A good game will help a lot to calm down the negativity.
Besides, look at where we were pre-Tebow. Playoffs? Crazy talk in week 6. But here we are. 3 losses don’t cancel out the 6 win streak. Let’s ride what got us here – that’s what Fox said. Hopefully, we can make it work vs the Steelers – but even if not it’s been a good ride, and definitely worth another year no matter what the MSM says. Don’t get turned around about where we are.
Summitgrad - January 7, 2012
Confidence
If Tebow plays the game with that deer in the headlights look and stumbles, I would hope they would put Quinn in and see if he could move the chains. This is all or nothing,This isn’t Survivor or American Idol where it’s a popularity contest, we need to win this game by pulling out all the stops
Baghdad - January 7, 2012
Maybe McCoy can call plays that look like we know what we are doing.
Kronis - January 7, 2012
A Unique Perspective
As my moniker indicates, I am a Steeler fan and a UF grad, so maybe I can bring an interesting perspective to the Tim Tebow discussion (it’s so weird to be rooting against him for a change).
I think Tim is a lot better passer than he’s currently given credit for by most objective sources. He’s no Drew Brees, that’s for sure, but he put up some amazing passing numbers at Florida. It’s not like he doesn’t know what he’s doing back there.
Remember when a young Ben Roethlisberger came to Denver as a “game manager” of the Steelers run-first offense led by Jerome Bettis? Ben surprised the Denver Defense by slinging the ball all over the field and the Steelers never looked back. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see the Broncos try the same thing against the Steelers.
Steelgator - January 7, 2012
I think some of this noise from the Broncos is just to motivate Tebow
He plays his best when under pressure, so just add a little more pressure for him to perform? Not sure, just one theory I’m trying out so far.
