'Delocated' Star Jon Glaser Battles Back

A couple of weeks ago an advertisement here on MHR created quite an uproar. It was a full-page ad for a TV show on AdultSwim called Delocated and featured the star of the show - Jon Glaser - in his underwear(and the ski-mask which he wears on the show). Several of the SBNation football communities where the ad was running had plenty of negative feedback on the ad, but one of the great things about MHR is the feeling of ownership that YOU, the members of MileHighReport, have for the site. If you don't like something, you are going to make your voice heard.

You did, in THIS FAN SHOT, and today it was brought to my attention that Glaser himself had something to say to you regarding your reaction to his mostly-naked body gracing the pages of the site. He was a guest last week on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Show and took the time to record a response, seen below. If Mr. Glaser is reading, thank you are giving us your feedback to our, umm, feedback. You are welcome around here any time!

But I am glad the ad was taken down.

I didn’t care about it from a gender discrimination thing and the ad didn’t make me not want to watch the show. My main problem was when the banner ad would take up the whole page on the screen when you scrolled over it and my roommate would ask me if I wanted some “alone time”. Not cool. Anyway, it’s hard to say the ad worked because I completely forgot about the show and the ad after two days but that’s just me, I might give it a shot now. Adult Swim usually has pretty funny stuff so maybe I’ll give it a watch. I feel it’s the least I could do after Mr. Glaser plugged MHR.

OMG, that's funny.
…and my roommate would ask me if I wanted some "alone time"
Wranglers, you've been warned.

Don’t come pedaling your playful, Saturday afternoon man pants around here.

Does this include me?

absolutely not. totally different set of pants, tusc.

So you want them now?

Took me forever to locate them. Cali got jumped by some bums, and apparently they took the pants the huevos, and the skol…

But before you worry I got it allllllll back! cali is ok too!

Awesome!

Now that was funny!!!

You’re welcome!!! Classic!

That was hilarious!

I’m never wearing Wranglers, that’s for sure.

I still see that banner all over the place

But at least it isn’t that all over in your face thing. Pretty kewl that he responded and named the site. Watch what you say here, this place gets some serious eyeballs :D

i had no real problems with the ad other than

it wasn’t really appropriate for work and I read MHR on breaks there.

that’s pretty cool of him to do this response though.

I find this guy smug and condecending.

His blathering was forced upon him by his management company and his hand was forced.

Freedom of speech is not about wranglers or some B tier show on cable.

Get the f**k out of your dressing room? get the f**k off my website!

Wow, football withdraw and Monday’s have gotten the best of me. Can anyone tell?

Go Broncos! Wooohoooo!!!

ps. Sign Prater and give em’ Elam-like money!!

Heh i find this amusing

MHR getting more recognition!

My main problem with the ad was it went way overboard shoving it in our face

every time i clicked on something new, it went up and it stuck around for well over a week. If it was only around for 2 days at the most I would have been ok with it. But I got tired of seeing some dude that’s dressed like the gimp from Pulp Fiction shoving his junk in my face for 10 days. I will never ever watch that show now and I hope that most people that hated that ad will do the same

Not a bad response

Well I appreciate his feedback anyways. I really didn’t have a problem with the ad itself, but I found it interesting he responded to the comments we made.

I have no idea what yall are talking about cause I use AdBlock

A half hearted apology if I ever heard one and he shows his true colors at the end when he says, "you're welcome".

He may actually be a nice guy with a funny show. Try a different marketing strategy that doesn’t involve shoving your crotch in my face and I might check it out.

If you complained about the ad

YOU NEED TO WATCH THE SHOW!!!

It is actually pretty funny, the guy is a good comedian!

Huge Bronco fan, huge delocated fan

I may the the target audience that the ad was trying to reach. I can understand a lot of people not appreciating the images, i wouldn’t like it if I didn’t watch the show. His style of comedy is very alternative and sarcastic, which makes him come off more condescending than I believe he intends to be. I wouldn’t suggest watching the show if you like more mainstream/ laugh track network comedies. But if you like alternative comedy, you have to check it out, its one of the funniest shows I’ve seen in the last few years.

Wow

I guess you really do have to watch what your saying around here. Well in that case since the dude offered his apology, well half hearted anyway I must offer mine. Mike McCoy Im sorry for all the harsh things I said about you this year since you might actually be reading, but please can you try and throw it on first down every now and then. Thank you and your welcomed, more the welcomed.

Mormons believe

porn is horrendous, but its ignominy increases when it’s dude porn because I prefer the fairer sex, gross

funny!

Glaser is truly very funny! This entire thing is really very funny. Especially considering the fact that our #1 QB does the same damn thing for Jockey and you all don’t seem to mind that at all! Funny shizzit man! I wonder if the folks in Greenbay wear Jockey? haha!

If it was a woman, there would be no complaints

i didnt enjoy his junk, but…it was a great ad. We’re all still talking about it, and now, more of us know about the show.

In other words. It worked.
It was a successful marketing strategy if it's objective was to make people aware of the show.

But I’d like to know if it actually got viewers to tune in high enough numbers to warrant the campaign’s cost. And if it was a really nasty flabby middle-aged chick, yes I’d probably still be offended. I hate any advertisements that resort to insulting the audience in some way just to get your attention.

Sadly thats the type of campaigning that's done today

Need something that will make people remember it, whether it’s insulting or not, it’s supposed to get your attention. They don’t care if you’re offended, they just want you to notice it, and talk about it, which obviously happened.

Maybe something good will come from it

I think this ad was aimed at a different group of people than the majority of MHR readers. There are plenty of viewers out there that need to see advertising that is more crude or obnoxius than the last thing they saw in order to get their attention, they probably enjoy shows where they can watch people shoot bottle rockets out of their ass or eat horse testicles for money. But hopefully the ad sales department at SB Nation will notice that this type of advertising doesn’t fit here. Sure we are still talking about it a week later, kind of like if your friend streaks across the field during a game, you’re still talking about it weeks later but that doesn’t necessarily mean you are going to look it up on YouTube and watch it again.

Yeah i was surprised to see it here haha

I know the show, and i watch adult swim everynight, not that show though. But knowing alot of the posters on here are older then me, and probably wouldnt find that show entertaining at all.

Good advertisement, wrong market i believe.

anyone else think that what was going through his head was....

“this is effing retarded! I shouldn’t have to apologize, screw them!”

I am reallly curious

Why the video? From John’s statement I think the response is to “us”, MHR. It feels like someone involved in his area of influence is also aware or involved here. You know, when a friend comes up and says “hey, I saw you on the internet”. LOL, I took a couple of looks around SBN and didn’t see it anywhere else. John nailed it when he says “thanks for your feedback to our feedback”,
What strikes me herre is how often I have wished I could scream through the TV and tell someone how bad their ad sucks. Well, That is one I can scratch off my bucket list and what I story to tell :D

lol great point

for all we know – he’s an avid Broncos fan who reads this site as well – he could have been frothing at the mouth over people’s comments here for the last couple weeks lol

He still sounds more ticked than anything though, especially when you get half way through his “apology”.

I could really care less, yes I thought it was a disgusting ad, but ad’s are everywhere. Would I rather have stared at a girl in the same clothing? SIGN ME UP! I’m a guy!

Nevertheless – even though I though it was a tasteless ad – I really don’t give a toot if it was up or not. I don’t come on here to stare at the ads – there’s no naked women otherwise I would. I come here to read material about my beloved team……….. and to see if John is selling girlscout cookies lol

Awesome

Personally, I think anyone who is still offended needs to get a sense of humor. Love having him respond to us like that and Delocated just got a whole lot more awesome in my book. America and John Glaser kick major butt!

It was a gross add

but if the show is actually funny, then who cares. I was just trying to be funny with my comments on the chain (notice I said “trying”). I actually kind of feel bad for the dude now… I’m sure I’m not much of a looker spread eagle in tighty whities either.

LOL

I KNOW I’m not. But then I have to good sense not to display my average pasty white guy looks. Only my wife gets that pleasure and she is quick to turn out the lights ;P

and she is quick to turn out the lights

unfortunately. Remember the crack of the tree branch you heard the other night? I cracked it when the lights turned off :(

i beg to differ
For ad-intensive sites I use Firefox browser + AdBlock extension

Right-click offending ad, and block.

Even with this setup most of the time I don’t bother blocking the ads, and realize advertisements pay for the website. Sites which automatically play Flash movies and/or loud audio are worse.

For what it’s worth I use the NoScript extension also.

As the catalyst that sparked the whole relocate delocated post...

I want to reach out to Jon Glaser and say I’m sorry that I called you flabby. The whole thing was never meant to be a personal attack, just a broad reaching call to arms to defend our eyes over here at MHR. I respect your right to free speech as well and wish you nothing but the best of luck with your show. I have nothing against Adult Swim or Delocated. I, personally, would just prefer not to feel uncomfortable looking around a site that has been like an internet home to me. Had you made an ad with flying circus monkeys and rockets and you in your mask with a heavy machine gun in hand unloading on elderly citizens, cool. Whatever. I get the whole strategy to grab attentions with shock value. Just make it less weird and/or gross. Thanks for the response and, again, good luck with Delocated!

Oh and maybe consider getting a spray tan the next time you lay it all out there for a centerfold shot!

Jon Glaser

Does the most fantastic (and I think only) Jim Leyland impression I have ever seen. Love this guy.

dang I leave for a week, and all the good stuff happens.
