San Diego OLineman, Kris Deilman is the dichotomy of the player injury lawsuit going on right now.
Deilman who has had many concussions and just last year had a seizure resulting from is contemplating playing again? The warning signs are there right in front of his face and for some reason refuses to see them. There are players sueing the NFL right now over the very injury Deilman has suffered and surely he is fully aware of the long term effects of it are. One thing I don’t want to hear is that in 10-15 years Deilman is sueing the NFL, because his brains are scrambled.
bfree2bronc - February 9, 2012
it's like I said during the lockout
no one makes the players play football, heck we even had MJD telling the media in Jacksonville, if the doctors tell me I have a concussion, I’m going to go out there and play anyway.
the new Bradfather - February 9, 2012
I agree Brad and for me it's hard to feel sorry for terminally injured players chasing all mighty dollar and then whine about it later when they are totally disabled...
bfree2bronc - February 9, 2012
Considering Cam Newton is ludirous at this point as he shattered NFL rookie quarterback records last year...
But the red flags are up, and it is up to him to either raise them higher or take them down all together. There is no doubting the kid has athleticism and talent, but as everyone knows, it takes a level head too, to be successful in the NFL. Many players have come and gone who have had off-the-charts athleticism, but deep down inside of that brain of theirs was a charater flaw just waiting for the right moment to leap out of him, and destroy any hope in his life…

I still see Newton busting in the long run. Or at least only hitting the same highs as Mike Vick…
So not a bust, but someone that doesn’t live up to all his potential.
McGeorge - February 9, 2012
Why do you think he'll bust?
Newton has shown incredible work ethic since he was drafted. Reports are constantly stating how he is the first one in, last one to leave, and Newton has stated that he never stopped his in season Workouts, and has stated that he is going to drop 14 lbs because he felt “sluggish.” That is an impressive work ethic, that bodes very well for his future success. Mike Vick on the other hand has stated that he never took his position seriously until he got out of prison.
Yankees199 - February 9, 2012
You do know that is a fantasy football article right?
The author isn’t talking a real football bust, rather that someone will overdraft him in a FF draft. It really has no bearing on actual football predictions since he is mostly just looking to see how rushing touchdowns compare season to season, heck the logic used by the author could apply to Tebow is we were foolish enough to believe he was talking real football.
Topher Doll - February 9, 2012
but Fantasy Football is REAL

But remember that when people use that logic on you, you have to accept it.

Bunkley is #24
in top FA list. Pork Chop had the crazy idea we should franchise him. Idiotic I say. He may be a tough one to re-sign though.
Digger24 - February 9, 2012
We're not at the level yet as a team to franchise anybody.
Where EFX made their mistake is not signing him long term, but he may want to re-sign with the team like Dawkins did and Champ. Anybody can see this team is going places and the atmosphere around Dove Valley is at a high right now, that could be a calling card. Remember last year when McGahee was lured here by some of the players on Twitter? I don’t think Willis regrets coming to Denver.
bfree2bronc - February 9, 2012
I noticed Bunkley after the Pitt game. He looked like he was having the time of his life. I bet his first choice is to resign in Denver.
It’s Marcus Thomas that I bet we lose. I could also see us losing Woodyard and Larsen to UFA.
We should franchise Prater if we can’t resign him soon. Can’t lose a good kicker if you want to play slow it down, run the ball, low scoring games. If you want to run three straight times in OT once you reach the 35 yard line. IE. Fox ball.
McGeorge - February 9, 2012
It would be stupid to think that Denver hasn't considered Peyton Manning in one way or another...
They should look at every angle if they want to be successful, but would they take a chance on a 36 year quarterback who has won one superbowl and averaged 10 wins a season? It can be argued that if he is healthy that he could help a team win many games before he is finished. But having 3 neck surgeries could leave nerve damage that will never let him be the same guy. I know, I had surgery back in September and my nerves in that certain region are still disfunctional and may never recover…Only time will tell on him, but I wouldn’t count him out if he is determined to work through this this. Besides, he can’t let little brother out do him, can he?
bfree2bronc - February 9, 2012
You want some truth... here you go.
I would think at least 20 teams would consider Payton Manning.
But Payton Manning won’t have a list of 20 teams. Denver is a long shot to make his top 5.
Look for Washington, Miami, NY Jets, Seattle and Arizona to be most likely to gain his services. I could even see a Dallas jumping into that fray. Or San Fran… or even
Denver would be down there with Tampa Bay, KC and Cleveland in Manning’s 2nd tier destinations.
McGeorge - February 9, 2012
or even Philly… sorry I didn’t finish that thought.
McGeorge - February 9, 2012
I love it, the San Diego Chargers are already the 2012 AFC West winner!
No pressure for Norv and Phyllis right?
CombatChuk - February 9, 2012
they are the March/April champs every year
but after we win the AFC West again in 2012, it will be the 3rd year in a row SD has missed the playoffs. Of course, A.J. Smith and Norv Turner are the smartest people in football…#sarcasm
the new Bradfather - February 9, 2012
It’s been 13 consecutive seasons that San Diego was the preseason AFC West and Super Bowl champ. No surprised Williamson gave them #14 in a row.
I wonder if he’ll feel the same way when V Jack and McNeil are not around. Or Hardwick….
The cold hard truth is that their core of studs has dwindled. 2011 exposed Gates and Jammer as over the hill. They both used to be pro bowl level producers. Gates is fat and Jammer got slow. Guray is over the hill at NT.
Shawn Phillips is the next domino to drop. Ditto Dielman and Floyd.
I wouldn’t bet a bucket of piss on San Diego’s future. Their window closed about 3 years ago.
McGeorge - February 9, 2012
That said… I’m scared of KC. If they get a QB and O-line… Look out.
They may have the best young D in the NFL.
McGeorge - February 9, 2012
If they get a QB?
Haven’t you heard, they have Kyle Orton.
ThorpeBroncosfan - February 9, 2012
Funny Thorpe :)
the new Bradfather - February 9, 2012
Orton is an UFA…
I would be very happy to see him resign in KC, esp as their starter. I want the ceiling as low as possible in KC. Orton does the trick here.
McGeorge - February 9, 2012
Brandon Flowers=Mr. Lockdown :(
the new Bradfather - February 9, 2012
The good news is Pioli is apparently sticking with Cassel
With Orton sticking around possibly as camp competition.
CombatChuk - February 9, 2012
That is good news. Orton = Cassel so I could care less which one they have or both.

Scary indeed
